With its premier location, The Blackwell Inn makes it easy for your guests to enjoy the comforts of a hotel along with excitement and beauty of the OSU campus. You and your guest will absolutely love having your ceremony, reception, and hotel block all in the same place. This is a HUGE perk for this venue.
Hold weddings of all sizes indoors or outdoors, including intimate gatherings and large receptions for up to 275 guests in the ballroom.
However The Blackwell Inn can do even more! You can have an outdoor tent wedding reception here. There is a large patio area just behind the hotel. Its often used for a cool outdoor cocktail hour, but a tent can be placed there.
The Blackwell is a beautiful venue and it give you a really fun area around it to scheduled a break for pictures while your guests have the opportunity to explore the campus area close by.

Of course you can have your ceremony in the beautiful ballroom. Your guests will then move to foyer while the staff re-sets for your reception. This is a very nice option.
But you can also have your ceremony outside on the patio that is behind the hotel. This gives you the best of both worlds, a wonderful outside ceremony and then a fun reception in the ballroom.
Wedding Pictures At The Blackwell Inn
Another big bonus for this venue is that you can take wedding photos with the Ohio stadium in the background, or get a shot of the wedding party posing on the OSU oval. Basically any OSU campus picture is just a short walk from the venue.

So you would think that this wouldn’t have to be mentioned if you are even somewhat familiar with the location….but this venue NOT available for home OSU football weekends. LOL.
If its available, make sure you get the presidential suite. It is complimentary the night of the wedding, as long as it is available. If you also reserved it the night before your reception it will also give the wedding party a place to get ready the day of the wedding. Once again its these sort of items that makes things easier for you and your wedding party.
There's a range of places for people to hang out while still being part of your reception. You have the ballroom of course, the patio out back, the large foyer, and even the bar area with nice couches. Because there is so much room and different options, the Blackwell Inn is perfect for accommodating hors d'oeuvres/cocktail hour, outdoor area for guests to mingle and the ballroom to celebrate.
