How To Incorporate Ohio State Into Your Wedding
How To Bring Buckeye Love Into Your Reception
1) Buckeye Food / Treats:
So this should be an easy one. Buckeye candies are always popular with guests at a wedding. These are easy to purchase at most places in Central Ohio, or you can make your own! And there’s no better way to show your Buckeye Pride at the dessert table than with these tasty treats.
We’ve also seen some really cool wedding cakes or groom’s cake that incorporate OSU football.
2) Have Brutus or the OSU Marching Band at your reception:
You can get lots of great photos with Brutus and so will your guests. You can click on this link to get information about having Brutus show up.
You can also have members of the OSU Pep Band at your reception. Imagine do a live version of Script Ohio at your reception. Hey its your special day - why not have the two of you ‘dot the i’ at your reception? That will be a huge crowd pleaser. Click this link to get information on for a pep band.
3) Pictures On The OSU Campus:
So there are several very popular locations to get these pictures. You have the stadium of course. Either inside the actual stadium or outside in the rotunda. It doesn’t get much more Buckeye than this.
Then you have the Student Union.
The Main Library
The Oval / Mirror Lake
4) OSU music:
It should be easy to drop in some OSU fight songs into your reception. We’ve seen many wedding parties / wedding couples enter their ballrooms with the Buckeye Battle Cry or Fight The Team. This ALWAYS gets the crowd excited!
You can also do a small version of Script Ohio at your reception. Just make sure your entertainment has “Le Regiment” by the OSU band ready to play (thats the official name of the Script Ohio song). Have somebody pretend to be the drum major to lead the group. The tricky part is timing it just perfect so that the couple can run out and ‘dot the i’.
And how many receptions end with Carmen Ohio? Get your family in friends to form a circle, put their arms over each other, and sing. This moment also makes for great pictures!
5) OSU Decoration:
Who says you have to have table numbers for dinner? Why not have seats named after locations or famous Buckeyes? You can have the “The Oval” table. Or the “Jesse Owens” table.
